With several large companies offering hummus to shoppers at their local grocery store, this smooth paste has seen a large increase in popularity over the past half-decade. While its availability has increased drastically, the price often prevents families from buying it regularly.
Although the price of store-bought hummus is quite high, the cost of its ingredients is actually quite low, and incredibly easy to make.
Uses for hummus stretch far beyond the typical “snack dip,” although it lends itself well to carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, chives, cherry tomatoes, and other vegetables. Pita wedges and other breads are also a popular dipping item. Another popular application of this spread is as a condiment on vegan sandwiches.
