Baking cookies with your kids is always a great family tradition to start, especially during the colder months. If you have always wanted to make homemade cookies with your children, check out these great cookie recipes that taste delicious and are easy for everyone to make.
Basic cookie dough
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Mix the butter and sugar in a large bowl until creamy. Add in the egg, milk and vanilla and mix well. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. After it is well mixed, slowly add it to the cream mixture and beat until combined. Divide dough and refrigerate. This makes a great sugar cookie recipe, or add in chocolate chips, raisins, and candies to create your own type of cookie mixture. When you bake, do so on 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Raspberry Cream Cheese Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup raspberries, blended well
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in one bowl. In another bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add sugar to the cream cheese mixture, stirring quickly until fluffy. Add raspberries, vanilla, and egg, combining thoroughly. Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, but be sure not to over-mix the two. Drop the dough by tablespoonfuls onto baking sheets roughly 2-inches apart.
Bake for 12-15 minutes. Let the cookies cool for 5 minutes.
Easy Hot Chocolate Cookies
Ingredients:
1 pouch of store-bought chocolate chip cookie mix
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
2 packets of instant hot cocoa mix without the marshmallows
1/4 cup small marshmallows
½ cup of dark chocolate chunks
Directions:
Heat oven to 375°F
In large bowl, stir cookie mix, butter, egg, cocoa mix, half of the marshmallows, and chocolate chips until dough forms.
Drop dough by tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart, on ungreased cookie sheet.
Press remaining marshmallows the top of the dough.
Bake 9 -11 minutes and allow to cool for one minute. Move to a cooling rack and cool completely.
TIP: any of these can be made with gluten free flour or gluten free basic cookie mix. Just remember to add in roughly two extra teaspoonfuls of melted butter to each recipe to keep the gluten-free mix soft if you use such a flour.
